Last time I explained why you shouldn’t eat at McDonalds. This time I’ll be giving you some examples of why you shouldn’t eat at Burger King. In the McDonalds post I told you why I quit eating at the McDonalds. My main reason was the high amount of junk in the food. The calories, the fat, the carbohydrates and the proteins. It’s just unbelievable.
Just like I did with the McDonalds post, let’s start with a medium sized menu. We’re not taking the one with the highest calories. We’ll take a look at the good old Whopper with cheese and mayo.
WHOPPER Sandwich with Cheese: 760 calories
Med French Fries (Salted): 360 calories
Med Coca Cola: 200 calories
Total calories: 1320
Right, 1320 calories for a medium sized WHOPPER menu. Let’s compare that with the daily calorie intake for a woman, which is about 2000. I think you see where I’m getting at. Eating 1 medium whopper menu will get you 67% of you daily calorie intake. Right now I’m only talking about the calories. I’m not going to make it more complicated by comparing the salt, protein and carbohydrates intake.
Now that we know the calories for a medium WHOPPER menu, let’s jump to a bigger sized menu. This time we’ll be looking at the TRIPLE WHOPPER Sandwich with cheese and mayo menu, and to make things worse, let’s go king size. Please don’t be shocked by the numbers you are about to read.
TRIPLE WHOPPER® Sandwich with Cheese: 1230 calories
King Size French Fries (Salted): 600 calories
King Size Coca Cola: 390 calories
Total calories (let me get my calculator): 2220
My calculator almost gave up on me there. A shocking 2220 calories for a TRIPLE WHOPPER® Sandwich king sized menu. That’s 111% of a women’s daily intake. I know this menu isn’t made for the average woman, but there are plenty of you out there that eat this menu. And you wonder why 60% of the population of the United States is overweight.
What I’ve learned from the Burger King nutritional information site? Not much. I already knew that it would be bad. But I didn’t think it would be this bad. What I did learn is that Burger King can be way worse than McDonalds. And just like ended my McDonalds post. Please, please don’t eat Burger King if you value your health.
Once again a bonus for you guys and girls

I think it’s a great idea restaurants are being asked to post info. It’s amazing how hard restaurant chains are fighting to hide their nutrition information. It’s hard to eat well when eating out, especially when you have dietary needs or want to watch your calorie intake. Often food items that seem healthy and are marketed that way are not. For this reason, my company just launched a new service called Wellternatives that lets people find nutrition info for thousands of chain restaurants — right from their cell phone or on the web. It also makes recommendations for a healthier alternative to your favorite restaurant meals, hence the name… Wellternatives. Would love to hear what you think of it! Sara

And about your company, I love the idea. There should be more companies such as yours.
