Health

Amazing collection of red hot peppersScientific studies have shown that there are indeed food that raises your metabolism. Some foods raise your metabolism more than others. While some foods do it in a short period of time, others take it slowly and will raise your metabolism slightly for a longer period of time. Enough with the introduction of the food, here they come.

Ice / Cold water; It’s not really a food, but it’s the only one in the list that’s not a food but a drink and it’s certainly worth mentioning it. Drinking about 2 liters of water a day, cooled down to about 5 °C (about 40 Fahrenheit) will burn roughly 200 calories. Ice water will burn more calories than just regular water, this is because your body will need warm the water to body temperature which is 37 °C. The warming up process is the part where you’re metabolism does the extra work. Another positive side of high water intake is the fact that is reduces fat deposits and gets rid of the body toxins.

Fish; eat fat! Sounds weird right? Telling you to eat fat while you’re trying to raise your metabolism. Well, now every fat is bad for the body. Omega 3 fatty acid for example, which is found in fish like tuna, salmon, herring and mackerel are good for the health and they raise your metabolism. Another fat that is good for your health and metabolism is Omega 6 fatty acids. If you are, just like me, a non fish eater, there are other possibilities for you. The most used alternative for eating fish are fish capsules. I use them and besides the horrible smell, it’s all good. You won’t get a fish taste in your mouth.

Soup; did you ever think that having a soup before dinner would have a better affect on your metabolism then having a salad? Well, a study by Dr. John Foreyt of Baylord College of Medicine, found that people who consumed a bowl of soup before lunch or dinner lost more weight than people who didn’t. The reason for this is the fact that salad consists of 75% water and that’s also the reason why soup will get rid of a hungry feeling quicker.

Oatmeal; continuing with the simple food that raise your metabolism and is good for your health. Oatmeal is a long chain molecule food, which means it makes u fuller and the full feeling with last longer. Because oatmeal releases glucose in the blood slowly, it’s a great food to raise your metabolism for a long time.

And now to move on to my favorite 2 metabolism raising foods.

Hot Peppers and Chili / Mustard; by adding one of these 2 to your meals will not only make your food taste better (at least it does for me) but it will also make your burn extra calories by punishing your metabolism. By adding a bit of these to your meal, about 3-4 grams, you will raise your metabolism by about 25%! This will burn near 45 calories in the next 3 hours without extra effort.

Now that you know that there is food around that raises your metabolism, try to make good use of it. Try to drink cold water more often and try to eat some of the food mentioned about.

If you think there are other food that raise your metabolism, please take your time to mention them in a comment.
