Breakfast

Workout breakfastThere are quite some people wondering whether to eat or have breakfast when they are about to work out. And there are some myths flying around claiming you’ll burn more fat during your workout if you didn’t eat before exercising. Well, I think many would agree with me when I say that this myth is absolutely not true. By skipping your meal or breakfast, all you do it consuming less carbs (carbohydrates) and calories. If it’s the breakfast you’re skipping, it will work against you, because by skipping the breakfast you’ll keep your body in a sleeping state and it your metabolism will not increase.

Say you decided to work out, one of the most important things you body need are carbs. During your workout you’ll be burning both carbs and fat, because these are your body’s fuel. Intensive workouts will burn more carbs, but the rate you burn fat with, will stay the same, no matter how intensive your workout it.

So the answer to the question: Should I eat / have breakfast before working out? The answer is a big fat yes.

Yes, but have enough sense to eat long enough before working out, or you might get cramps. Digestion requires blood, as does working out.

Indeed, there should be enough time between you eating and working out. 2 to 4 hours is known to be ideal.
