Breakfast

An omelet, french toast, coffee and milkThe majority of the American population is overweight. So I thought I check out a typical American breakfast to find out if that is a part of the problem. By overweight I don’t mean people that are 200kg and above. By overweight I mean that you weigh more then you are supposed to, even if it’s by 1kg. While doing research for this post I came across some weird

breakfasts. If only you knew what people ate for breakfast. Anyhow, back to our topic. What is a typical American breakfast? This is what I think is a typical American breakfast.

Eggs: I think I went to like 10 sites and everywhere I looked I saw eggs. Be it scrambled eggs, fried eggs or an egg omelet. A typical American breakfast has eggs in it.

Bacon/Ham/Sausage: Another ingredient for the typical American breakfast is bacon, ham and sausage. It’s clear that Americans like to eat a piece of meat in the morning.

Toast (French): Not as famous as eggs or bacon, but still, toast is something you’ll find in most of the American breakfasts.

Porridge: Be it hot oatmeal porridge or grain porridge. Porridge is another part of the typical American breakfast.

Beverage: The beverages I found were normal beverages. Coffee, tea, milk and orange juice are the beverages that are most drank during the breakfast.

The list above represents the typical American breakfast for me, but because I’m Dutch, I could be horribly wrong. That’s why I asking for help from you hardcore breakfast Americans. Am I horribly wrong or did I go in the right direction? And the poor breakfast could result in Americans being overweight, but it’s not THE problem.
